The last two years were full of changes for the whole planet and for our society. Remote work, digital sovereignty, privacy rules and regulations and of course a strong need to reduce the environmental footprint of individuals and organizations.
Holger and Klaas will open the conference and give an outlook on the two days ahead.
With the announcement of ownCloud Infinite Scale, a new era was born for ownCloud and its community. In this talk we will explain the big picture behind the new product generation and shed light on how it will accompany and support organizations on their data strategy. Going forward we'll talk about differences to the classic ownCloud product, celebrate the achievements since the initial release and discuss the roadmap to general availability and beyond.
In this talk, Katrin will give a brief overview about community engagement opportunities at ownCloud, with a short presentation of our new community program. This is a talk for anyone who is active in the ownCloud community space or who is planning to be and who is interested in knowing more about ownCloud's community engagement going forward.
Web accessibility is often understood as making websites accessible to e.g. blind people. Due to extra efforts and because it's prescribed by law, implementing accessibility measures is often not the most popular UX task.
On the other hand, accessibility advocates fiercely argue to put more effort into this - despite the presumably small target audience.
In our talk we will speak about how to overcome both views with a pragmatic "how to start with accessibility" approach and show you how this improves the everyday usage of web applications for nearly anyone.
CERNBox is based on the ownCloud solution and is used by a diverse community of more than 16.000 users. It provides a cloud storage solution for synchronizing, sharing and collaborative working on files corresponding to the needs of big science. During the close cooperation with our user community as well as the owncloud team, we derived the vision for improving the user experience. Our main focus lies in two areas of interaction: the core interaction with the files and sharing functionality for the interaction and the collaboration between the users.
With our ideas we have been contributing to the ownCloud design with a resulting positive feedback of our users and we look forward to share them and provide space for discussion.
VNC needs to auto-deploy and update the full VNClagoon Communication and Collaboration Suite including ownCloud.
VNC created the ownCloud Helm Charts and enabled persistent data volumes to scale ownCloud and provide high availability. This enables VNC to deploy ownCloud quickly for their customers alongside their own applications and run fault tolerant clusters.
VNC and ownCloud have published the Helm Charts for deploying ownCloud on public cloud and bare metal Kubernetes clusters.
VNCtalk is an unique enterprise real-time communication solution including chat, video and audio conferencing, screen sharing, voice messaging, file sharing, broadcasts, document collaboration and much more. VNCtalk is a part of the VNClagoon suite of integrated communication and collaboration solutions that enable you to think beyond boundaries to create a business environment that conforms to the way your organization works.
We integrated ownCloud in VNCtalk to enable the following three scenarios:
1. Sending files from ownCloud to VNCtalk chats
2. Saving files from VNCtalk to ownCloud
3. Saving recordings to ownCloud
ONLYOFFICE integrated with ownCloud allows you to easily create a full-featured customized working environment with online document collaboration, no matter if you are sitting in the office or working from home.
Since our last talk at the ownCloud Conference 2019, a lot happened. We continue to make ONLYOFFICE-ownCloud integration better every day. We do our best to keep pace with our partners and bring to life all the exciting ideas from our users. And we are just eager to share all the novelties and cool things with you!
A global, decentralised, self healing, endlessly scalable, quantum safe, storage and file collaboration solution.
Come and hear about the latest exciting feature work on Collabora Online, hear about the new ownCloud Web integration, and the state-of-the-art ownCloud Infinite Scale integration. Hear about the wins we've been making with performance, interoperability, stability, user experience, look and feel and far more.
One of the key features of ownCloud is and has always been our strive to deliver best quality and stability. To guarantee this today and in the future we have lined up professional teams, tools and processes. This journey will never end and we need to adapt and re-evaluate our approach on a regular basis. We invite you to a backstage tour and introduce you to our team members and tools.

What information is needed for a support case?
Server logs, log level, logs per-app/user, Apache logs, add X-Request-Id to Apache log etc…
Often errors appear in the desktop & mobile clients, and it's not always clear if it's a problem in the client, on the server, or somewhere between.
This workshop helps admins to collect the relevant information from the ownCloud desktop and mobile clients, to analyse the improved log files, and to find the matching entries in the logs from ownCloud server, Apache, or other middleware.
ROOT is the framework for data processing built at CERN at the heart of the research on high-energy physics, enabling analyses and visualization of large amount of data. In this talk we will showcase the integration of the ROOT analysis framework with the ownCloud Infinite Scale interface. We will tell our story developing the ocis-rootjs extension for ownCloud Infinite Scale and our lessons learned.
The ownCloud Classic product has come a long way. In this talk we will provide insights on the highlights of product development. New features and improvements in and around the core product that have become available recently will be showcased and we will provide an outlook on the steps that are ahead of us.
What happened with the ownCloud desktop and mobile clients, and what's coming next?
One exciting new feature is the MDM support in the ownCloud iOS app. What problems can be solved with MDM? How can end user experience be improved? And there's a new ownBrander 2.0…

OwnCloud Infinite Scale is not only the back-end for the next generation file sync & share product, but it also embraces some radical concepts on data layout and storage management. Due to the limitations of our classic back-end, we needed to explore new ways of integrating different storage technologies into a flexible but robust platform. In the past, our architecture was built on a virtual global view which was personalized for the logged-in user.
It tried to join every resource into a single view of the world. This did not reflect the view of other users and made real collaboration on shared resources cumbersome. It also created a leaky abstraction for the different underlying storage technologies, which made it very hard for contributors to master the different involved code layers. What if we could recognize a storage which provides data as a self-contained generic entity? Wouldn't that allow us to navigate safely the seas in storage wonderland?
Join us for an interactive session exploring the Spaces concept, the underlying implementation and the consequences.

Ever wondered how storage services are run at petabyte scale at CERN? In this talk, we will explore the journey we started last year when we began embracing Infinite Scale as the replacement for our traditional ownCloud X deployment. We will talk about some of the design choices and patterns we adopted to achieve feature-parity with our previous system, while keeping everything easy to operate, monitor and troubleshoot. We’ll reveal the reasons behind our choice for a bare-metal deployment on our production instance, while keeping alive a full stack version of our entire service ecosystem reproduced on Kubernetes for ScienceBox. And last, we will reflect on the challenges posed by running a distributed microservices architecture in the real world and some common mistakes that you can avoid when facing a similar choice.
Over the past two years, we have been working closely with the ownCloud team on their new flagship product ownCloud Infinite Scale.
Our main contribution is to bring our expertise in running large distributed storage systems to the new platform mainly through Reva software.
In this talk, we will present the integration of ownCloud Infinite Scale and Reva and the future roadmap of this software component to meet the growing demands of the ownCloud Infinite Scale product while delivering optimal performance.
In this talk I'll present the work that has been done as part of the shared GSOC project between ownCloud, AARNet and CERN. The goal is to demonstrate how easy it is now to develop language plugins that can be loaded into ownCloud Infinite Scale without having to re-compile the software. An added value is the new possibility to allow enterprise plugins to be loaded without code disclosure.
This panel is here to discuss the obvious: Open Source has arrived in the world of software and computing everywhere: In code, operating systems and cloud computing, but also in processes and development. In short, the Open Source movement has caused a dramatic change of the industry on all levels.
This workshop is limited to 15 persons on a first come first serve base.
